Training
Informal training:
This occurs during 1:1 therapy sessions where good communication skills are modelled and suggestions are given on how to support and encourage the person to communicate using their AAC methods.
Formal training:
This can be provided to families, LSAs / TAs, / PAs, teachers, carers, support staff, OTs, Physios, etc to include:
- What is AAC (low, lite and high tech)
- Language development and AAC
- Implementation of AAC into the environment and different situations
- Accessing of AAC devices (direct touch, switches, HeadMouse, Eye gaze)
- Programming AAC devices
- Specific communication information and strategies for specific people
